Although thousands of miles away, the Malaysian Association of Canada raised over RM22,000 and entrusted the funds to Free Food Society (FFS) to carry out aid projects on their behalf for Malaysian communities affected by the recent floods.
FFS together with Brickfields Asia College (BAC) group identified several affected communities in Selangor and Pahang to distribute the essentials. A total of 6 communities comprising 280 families received various items worth about RM30,000.
Some of the items distributed are food, drinking water and household goods such as mattresses, pillows, stand fans and cooking essentials such as kettles, rice cookers and stoves.
On 19th February, committee members and friends of FFS visited the Orang Asli community at Kampung Paya Lebar in the interior of Hulu Langat, Selangor, which was badly affected by the floods. A total of 80 families from the Temuan tribe in the village were given grocery items and large bottles of drinking water. The women folk in addition received sanitary towels too.
Thank you to the Malaysian Association of Canada and our partners for their kind contribution to the work we do to help flood victims achieve a little normalcy in their lives.
