FFS is partnering the BAC Education Group’s tuition initiative for the Orang Asli community in Kampung Serigala, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. A kindergarten for the 4-6 year olds and a tuition program for primary and secondary school students up to Form 3 have been set up. The students from the Semai and Senoi villages are given tuition every Saturday from 10am to 2pm by volunteer teachers.
FFS will be providing snacks for the students before the start of classes and at lunch time. It will cost about RM1,500 a month to feed about 70 students 2 simple snacks of Milo drink, Gardenia bun and biscuits. The students have previously come to class hungry and these snacks give them an incentive to come to class and be better able to concentrate in class. We see this as a great opportunity to hopefully better educate these kids and hopefully secure a better life for them which can eventually lift the community out of poverty. Moving forward, FFS aims to give more than just food and we see this partnership as a potential sustainable development for this community.
We hope to do this initiative long-term but we need your help to assist us with the funding. If you wish to be a part of this initiative, you may make a donation too.
