On 15th August 2021 Persatuan Makanan Ehsan (Free Food Society) teamed up with Sejahtera Malaysia to deliver food aid to 46 families in Sekinchan and Tanjung Karang, Selangor. These idyllic fishing communities have not escaped the effects of the pandemic – the once thriving fishing area has been badly hit as domestic tourism plunged and visits by people from the cities to savour the seafood there have dropped. Villagers whose livelihoods comprise fishing, farming and odd jobs around the area have suffered a loss of income and hence struggle to put food on the table. Cross-district restrictions have also affected their ability to seek jobs outside their community. Sejahtera Malaysia approached Free Food Society (FFS) for a collaborative effort to deliver food baskets to these 46 families. Apart from food baskets containing basic necessities, we also distributed soy sauce donated to FFS by F&N Holdings Bhd. Thank you Sejahtera Malaysia for collaborating with FFS to distribute food aid and thank you F&N for the donation.
